1. Legal Basis
The basis for these workshop regulations is the German Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG), the Workplace Ordinance (ArbStättV), DGUV Regulation 1, the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, and the rules of the statutory accident insurance.
2. Objectives
These workshop regulations aim to ensure the safe use of the workshop in accordance with occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and health protection standards. This requires knowledgeable and expert handling of the building, equipment, machinery, tools, as well as energy, water, and other media. They must be used in a way that:
- Does not endanger the health of individuals
- Minimizes the risk of accidents
- Ensures economic efficiency
- And avoids environmental pollution.
3. Duties of Members
Members must acknowledge and adhere to these workshop regulations. All referenced ordinances, laws, guidelines, and operating instructions are available for review at the workshop's reception. Acknowledgment and compliance are confirmed by signature during the general safety briefing by all employees and members. All members must comply with the working hours, maternity protection, and youth protection laws.
4. Rules
4.1 General Rules
All activities in the workshop must be carried out in such a way that no person or the MakerSpace infrastructure is damaged, and no one is put at risk. When carrying out dangerous work, people nearby must be informed of the hazards and the necessary protective measures. Access doors must be kept closed.
Workstations must be cleaned and tidied after work. If in doubt, the necessary cleaning and maintenance steps after work completion should be taken from the operating manual and carried out. Materials provided by the operator, such as screws, small metal items, etc., may only be used after consulting MakerSpace staff.
Tools and equipment must be returned to their storage locations. Overnight stays in MakerSpace rooms are not permitted. Filming and photographing in the workshop are prohibited unless explicitly permitted by MakerSpace.
4.2 Use
Activities may only be carried out after prior general safety training in a successfully completed safety course and, if necessary, a machine-specific introductory course. Individuals must use and wear appropriate personal protective equipment for the activity.
All safety measures must be followed, and protective clothing must be worn as specified by the operating instructions of the machines being used, if indicated by signage in the workshop, or if instructed by the operator's staff.
Machines, tools, and equipment must only be used according to the operating instructions for their intended purpose.
It is prohibited to alter the technical or software configuration of PCs, tools, and machines unless explicitly permitted in the operating instructions.
The use of the workshop by individuals who are not members requires the consent of the operator. Work on machines and tools in the workshop is only permitted for trained individuals. The operator may require that work on specific machines or equipment be permitted only after successful completion of a specific training or introductory course.
4.3 Safety Devices
Before beginning their activities, individuals must familiarize themselves with the safety devices, their locations, and their functions. Any damage to tools or equipment must be immediately reported to the workshop staff. Escape routes and emergency exits must always be kept clear.
4.4 Hazardous Substances
Any handling of hazardous substances must be coordinated with the hazardous substances officer. Hazardous substances may only be brought into the premises with MakerSpace's consent.
Hazardous substances must only be stored and filled in the designated containers.
Hazardous substances must be disposed of safely and must not be allowed to enter the environment.
The corresponding safety data sheet for the material brought in must be presented without request and must be read and adhered to before use.
4.5 First Aid
Immediate first aid must be provided to the injured, and MakerSpace staff must be informed. In the workshops, a list of emergency contact numbers and first aiders is available. The central emergency number is 089 289 112.
4.6 Hygiene
The skin protection plan must be followed for hand and skin cleaning.
Cleanliness at the workstation must be maintained.
Open food and drinks, as well as glass bottles, are not allowed in the workshop area.
Compressed air at the machines should be used carefully.
5. Operating Instructions
The relevant operating instructions must be followed for the use of the operating equipment and tools. In case of uncertainties regarding work processes, MakerSpace staff must be consulted. The use of individual equipment, rooms, tools, and machines is exclusively and finally decided by MakerSpace staff.
There is no entitlement to the use of specific machines or rooms at specific times. The operator reserves the right to regulate access to individual or all machines via a binding calendar-based booking system.
6. Entry into Force
These workshop regulations come into force on January 1, 2022.
The workshop regulations are an addition to Section 10 of the House Rules.
